Weezer - Pork & Beans

I’m a little surprised that REM didn’t beat them to this punch, but the end result is stellar. Best part is that it’s the real people, not some faked version of the lame crap (see Dunkerton’s Law)

* Dunkerton’s Law states that when referencing lame crap if you don’t use the original characters the subject becomes lame rather than ironic.**

**there is no Dunkerton’s Law

Very Clever Idea

Unsigned UK band decides to make a video by performing in front of a handful of the over 13 million CCTV cameras there. Using data protection laws they request the footage - drop it into some editing tools and presto, a music video. Band isn’t half-bad either.

Interlochen Photo

Great Shorpy photo of a girl attending Interlochen Arts Camp in 1942. Fifty three years after this, when I attended, everyone that had boyfriends/girlfriends back home went through a similar ritual. Although we used the payphone quite a bit more than this gal did I assume.

Another photo in the comments.

Never Enough Smooth Music

Even if it’s fake smooth music.

Andrew Bird

Andrew Bird opened for Wilco last night in Iowa City. I got the chance to meet Andrew in 1999 while he was at Kingsway Studios recording with Rogers Stevens from Blind Melon and Pat Sansone (now with Wilco). Andrew is a different cat, as is evident in the above video. One thing is for certain, his musicianship cannot be questioned. He’s as original and mesmerizing as anyone I’ve seen. Enjoy.

PS - I have three design post drafts waiting in the wings, so if you’re looking for less music, more pixels your wish shall be granted, soon.

I just did that for a week…

Technology, Music, Drum Corps & Geeks

So I’m finding out more and more people have some connection to music and oddly enough, drum corps, in the tech circles I’m a part of. I never marched, I opted to attend Interlochen rather than march my senior year of high school. However, I have friends who marched Colts, Scouts, Spirit, Magic, Cadets, Phantom, and lots of smaller corps as well. How about you? Any of my loyal readers do the drum corps thing? If so what, when and where?

There’s a connection to all of this (music & tech), but I’ll let you infer what it is, I’m cloudy from a late night with the princess.

(Currently listening to Star 1991 - what a show.)
